Committee on Being Accessible and Inclusive (CBAI)
Charter

The Committee on Being Accessible and Inclusive (CBAI) shall consist of at least six members. The Chair and Vice Chair shall be appointed by the Board to serve two-year, overlapping terms.

The committee's responsibilities are to:

1. Conduct annually an Accessibility Audit to evaluate the building, equipment, documents and programs for accessibility to those with disabilities and make recommendations as appropriate for modifications.
2. Conduct or recommend training to enhance acceptance and pluralism in our congregation.
3. Prepare an annual report on the congregation's accessibility and inclusiveness for the Board of Trustees, and a long-range plan in coordination with the Long Range Planning Committee.

We are not attempting to assuage liberal guilt or follow a model of political correctness. Being accessible and inclusive challenges we as UUs to live up to our highest principles. We will not grow as individuals, as a congregation, or as a denomination until we push past the barriers of our hearts. Because we are probably more introverted than many religious people, we have to work harder at opening ourselves to others. But the reward is worth the risk. Connections are made by which we all become stronger.
